I seriously cannot believe it is the end of the year already.
“Time flies when you’re having fun.” Yup. That’s exactly it. Looking back at this year, lots of good friendships and memories were made and I’m so grateful for that. Memories that you can can look back on in 10 years and smile and laugh. A lot of special events and celebrations occurred throughout the year which made it that much more exciting for me.
I went camping for the first time for a weekend with my high school buddies this past summer at a group campsite. Luckily we were the only group there that weekend so we had the space all to ourselves. It sure was an experience! Don’t get me wrong, it was fun being around good company!
I had the pleasure of going on 5 vacations this year (say, what?): San Francisco in April, Portland in May, Las Vegas twice in August & November and then to Los Angeles this December.
I fell in love with San Francisco. I went with the boyfriend and one of his good friends. From the exploration around Fisherman’s Wharf to the tour around Alcatraz and biking across the Golden Gate Bridge, all the wonderful sights and especially the food, were amazing. I will never forget the biking experience! It was my first time back on a bike since I was in elementary school (hard to believe, I know), so it was kind of a big deal for me. Luckily I survived! This trip was definitely a trip to remember.
What more can I say about Portland than no tax? Love it. And being with good company is always a plus. We visited Voodoo Doughnuts for their wide selection of gourmet doughnuts. I also had the pleasure of meeting up with one of my coworkers there; what are the odds? I tried the jelly filled voodoo one and also had a taste of the maple bacon one. So undeniably good. We basically went to Portland for the shopping :)
My two trips to Vegas were with my family. I had a lovely time with them; it’s rare to have a trip with everyone since we’re all grown up now. The first time was with my parents and the the second time, my siblings and niece came along and she sure had a grand time coming over to our side all the time (we had 2 adjoining rooms). The second time was also the week of “Black Friday” in the States. My siblings and I went to midnight madness at the outlet and it sure was an experience. There were dozens of people and crazy line ups everywhere! Lining up to get into a store and then lining up to pay. My sister and I lined up for over an hour & a half at this one particular store and after lining up so long, you kind of feel obliged to purchase something so we did! Overall, Vegas is always a good time with good company. I cherish these moments because my family means the world to me. I am definitely looking forward to more vacations with them in the future. Hawaii, perhaps?
Los Angeles was a blast with the company of my boyfriend. There is definitely lots to see and do in this city. It is shopping heaven here! So many different districts, streets and malls. Though I didn’t buy too much, I did make purchases on things that I have been eyeing for awhile. I told myself that this trip would be more based on sight seeing & having fun, and that was what we stuck to. The Getty Museum, the Hollywood sign, catching an LA Clippers game, Universal Studios and the San Diego Zoo were the highlights of this trip. I really enjoyed Universal Studios! (Tip: Get the Front of the Line Pass if you go to lessen your wait time!) I hadn’t been on amusement rides in awhile and the very first one (The Simpsons ride) made me feel a little uneasy, but I still had a good time. The San Diego Zoo was humungous! Lots of animals minding their own business. I would for sure go back here if I had the chance.
I was able to go to the Bieksa’s Buddies Charity hockey game which was great since the NHL lockout occurred! It was so nice to watch a hockey game again and the proceeds were for a good cause.
There were lots of other good memories made: random friday nights with my girlfriends, birthdays, weddings, the Bryan Adams concert and 3 thanksgiving turkey dinners (turkey coma) to name a few. I’m grateful that I got to travel quite a bit this year and was able to attend all these events. I’m also glad that the world didn’t end on December 21st. More time to make more awesome memories :)
New Years Resolutions? I said that I would start exercising more as this year’s resolution, but I totally failed on that part. Now I must put a foot down and
actually I will make this happen for next year. I eat way too much for my own good! I am also aiming to save more and spend less. That means I can’t feed my addiction of stepping into Sephora and purchasing more products that I do not need, hah. I spent quite a bit this year with all the trips I went on!
What are your new years resolutions for 2013?
I hope 2012 treated you well and have a happy 2013! Stay safe.
